Something New In Metering

Meet Matt Bechberger, who has a podcast about large format photography. In this PetaPixel article, he discusses a new spot-light meter from Reveni Labs that is interesting an many different ways. It’s small, it doesn’t have a viewing lens, it uses different methods to analyze light values (including Nick Carver’s PMM.) as part of its design.

The value in reading this article is to remind folks of how attention to light values is important when selecting exposure. Modern cameras are almost magical in their ability to do this for you, but at the core of this magic, is fundamental stuff. It’s not a bad thing to learn about it.
